Unispan awarded scaffold contract for Lotus Glen Correctional Centre expansion Mareeba Northern Queensland.

 

Unispan is pleased to announce they have successfully tendered to supply scaffold and labour to this Queensland Government project, managed and constructed by Thiess Contractors (QLD).

 

The awarding of this contract represents many months of hard work and dedication by the design and sales team at Unispan in conjunction with the Thiess site team, who provided the necessary details and guidance for the tender submission.

 

Unispan provided the contractor with details regarding credentials as to co-compliancy, work methodology, site specific safety plans, site management skills as well as a competitive tender price for submission and subsequent recommendation to the Queensland Government.

 

Foremost to the above criteria Unispan had to demonstrate a total commitment to the application and implementation of an approved safety management plan that provided the client with the necessary information that would allow best possible safe work practices to be adopted and followed on the Lotus Glen site.

 

The project consists of the construction of 300 bed high security cells increasing the overall capacity to 696 beds. This will also include buildings such as the gatehouse, visitors centre, kitchen and medical centre. The scaffold at its peak is expected to top out at approximately 900 tonne with an associated labour and support staff of around 15 men.

 

Site establishment consist of Supervisors’ office equipped with the latest communication equipment, a mobile workshop, site truck and an all terrain Manitou forklift for the movement of materials onsite over the proposed duration of approximately 14 months. support staff of around 15 men.

 

Due to the remoteness of the site, a fully catered camp has been established for the on site workforce

 

The above site establishment represents a significant undertaking by Unispan, as the logistics of providing men and materials to a remote area on the Atherton tableland in North Queensland demonstrates our commitment to provide the best possible service to the client and the scaffold industry as a whole.
